Big Bear Candles

Big Bear Candles is a small family business located in Trenton, Florida.  Our name derives from our love of nature and our fascination of the species that inhabit it, particularly the species of the family Ursidae(Bears).  We started making wood jars for candles in 2017 and soon after decided to make a full line of candles.  Our main goal for our candles was and still is to make all our candles of the highest quality using only USA products with minimal environmental impact that are safer to use and of course smell great.  We will always strive to better achieve these goals to give our customers the best.  We hope you enjoy our candles and we welcome any feedback to help us improve.

All the products we use are made or grown in the USA.

Big Bear Wax

We use pure natural soy wax from US grown soy beans in our candles.  We also blend natural organic coconut wax in to every candle.  Soy and coconut wax is all natural and is more environmentally friendly than paraffin wax (a petroleum byproduct) that is used in most candles.  Paraffin wax will leave a black soot around the glass and is also releasing these toxins into your home as well.

Big Bear Wicks

All of our candles have cotton wicks that are lead & zinc free.
Our wood wicks are made from sappy fruit trees and sourced from Forest Stewardship Council certified mills in the USA.

Big Bear Fragrance Oils

All of our oils exceed RIFM and IFRA standards for safety and purity.  Our oils are 100% pthlatates free.

Big Bear Jars

All of our glass jars are made in the USA and are safe to be reused, rinse well with soap and hot water.

We handcraft all our own wood candle jars , each will be unique and no two will ever be exactly the same.

Every wood jar is soaked for 12 hours in a NFPA 255, 701 & ASTM E 84 Tested, Class 'A' Rated Fire Retardant.  It is a Non-Toxic, Eco-Friendly -NO PBDE's or Toxin Fire Retardant.

We torched test our wood jars to ensure they are safe.

Wood jars will absorb some of the wax as the candle burns, this is normal and safe.

Some Bears aren't Perfect

We make candles in small batches and each candle is hand poured.  We take extra care to try to make sure each candle is perfect, but because we use natural ingredients there will sometimes be imperfections.  Soy wax is known for leaving a frosting effect(small crystals that form on the wax) and wet spots (separation of wax from the jar due to temperature change).  While these imperfections may not always be pleasing to the eye, the candle will still smell and burn great.

Big Bear Candle Care

When burning a Big Bear Candle make sure to trim wick to 1/4 inch.  Keep wax free of debris.  Keep out of reach of children and pets.  Burn on heat resistant surface and at least 1 foot away from anything that could catch fire.  Please do not touch or move candles while or after burning as they may be hot.  Discontinue burning when only 1/2 inch of wax remains.  Store candles in a dry place away from heat and direct sunlight.  Candles will begin to melt at temperatures over 110 degrees.

When burning Big Bear Candles make sure the candle has enough time(about 1.5 hours) to form a complete wax pool.  this will prevent tunneling and will give longer candle life.

With proper care our 10 oz Candles will burn for 50+ hours, we have test burned some for over 70 hours.

Please follow all warning labels

and please never leave burning candles unattended.
